More than traditional after-school care, FASC is a STEAM-focused learning community where students are encouraged to explore new ideas, build confidence, and develop the knowledge and skills needed for future success.Serving students in Kindergarten through Grade 8 in Springfield and the surrounding communities of Western Massachusetts, our program combines academic support, hands-on STEAM learning, creativity, and character development in a welcoming environment where every child can thrive.

Our Educational PhilosophyAt FASC, we believe children learn best through active exploration, meaningful relationships, and hands-on learning experiences.Inspired by Jean Piaget, we encourage students to learn by exploring, questioning, and discovering through meaningful activities that make learning engaging and enjoyable.Guided by Lev Vygotsky's social learning theory, we recognize that children learn best when they collaborate with peers and receive guidance from caring educators. Our small-group learning model, with approximately 8–10 students in each learning space, provides individualized support while encouraging teamwork, communication, and shared problem-solving.Inspired by Carol Dweck's Growth Mindset, we help students understand that abilities grow through effort, perseverance, and practice. We encourage children to embrace challenges, learn from mistakes, and develop confidence in their ability to succeed.At the heart of our program is STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). Through inquiry-based learning, hands-on projects, and real-world problem-solving, students develop creativity, critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and innovation—essential skills for lifelong learning.
